Red Ghost and Super Apes

The Red Ghost of this alternate Marvel Universe is Doctor Ivana Kragoff, a Soviet born biologist who has dedicated herself to the study of human  mutations and superhuman abilities.  She becomes obsessed with the idea of bestowing specific superhuman abilities to humans after the Fantastic Four reveal how they gained their powers after they establish themselves after the cosmic ray shuttle accident.    

Kragoff eventually succeeds in creating and perfecting an artificial cosmic ray bombardment device that could theoretically bestow specific abilities to anyone who had under gone a special cellular stimulation treatment that she also developed to work in tandem with her cosmic ray process.   Rather than use human volunteers for her initial test of her Mutation Ray she used the process on three research apes she had in her care before using it upon herself to attain the power of intangibility.  

The Mutation Ray however had unfortunate side effect of making Kragoff criminally insane as well the unforeseen effect of mentally linking her to the three apes making them susceptible to her will and desires.   Kragoff now began to see her self as the foremost scientific mind of time  and thus should be overseeing the fate of the entire human race.  Her initial and totally irrational bid to establish herself as the unquestioned shepherd of humanity leads her and her enhanced apes into conflict with the Fantastic Four.

The Three Super apes, Mikhlo the gorilla, Igor the baboon & Peotor the orangutan remain the same as far as their abilities super strength (Mikhlo) shape shifting (Igor) &  magnetic/gravity powers (Peotor).  

The Red Ghost & the Super Apes have battled the Fantastic Four on various occasions as well as gone on to have encounters with Captain America, Iron Man & the Hulk.
