Shang Chi

Shang Chi in this Alternate Marvel Universe is revealed to be the half mortal son of Master Khan, the evil immortal sorcerer and self styled “god” of the mystic city of K’un L’un.  

Trained since childhood by the greatest masters of the various martial arts disciplines of the Seven Cities of Heaven realm as well as mastery in use of all weapons, Shang Chi was raised to be Master Khan’s ultimate weapon/assassin in his plans to conquer all of the Seven Cities realm as well as the Earth Dimension. Decades ago when he was a teen, Shang Chi was given his first mission outside the walls of K’un L’un and into the Earth Dimension. He was to assassinate one of his father’s mortal enemies in the Earth Dimension. As he was raised to believe his father was a great humanitarian and protector of K’un L’un, Shang Chi had nothing unquestioning loyalty to his father. He travels to Honan, China to carry out his mission only to discover that the “enemy” his father sent him to kill was in fact his own mortal mother, a woman named Leiko Wu, whom Shang Chi believed was already dead.  

Wu, whom Khan had mystically seduced in order to bear his son, told Shang Chi the truth about his father and the evil that he truly was. Wu also tells of how she was forced to abandon him as a young child in order able to escape from Khan’s influence once she began to break free from his mystical enchantment to control her will.

Shang Chi returns to K’un L’un to confront his father who confesses the truth to his son before attempting to use his mystic abilities to subdue his son and subjugate his will as he did with Leiko Wu. However Shang Chi’s own innate mystic nature and years of mental discipline acquired during his martial arts training allow him to resist his father's magics and uses his fighting skills to fight his way free and escape from his father.  Now aware of his father’s manipulations, Shang Chi declared himself to be his father’s mortal enemy, devoting his life to protecting the Earth Dimension from any of Master Khan’s schemes towards it and its populace as well as one day ending his life as well.  Shang Chi has used his exceptional skills to fight against injustice for the last several decades he has resided in the Earth Dimension.  This has lead him to have interactions with various heroic and criminal element over time.  He has of course become most recently allied with the hero known as Iron Fistand his partner in Heroes for Hire in their own conflicts against his father Master Khan and his ongoing conquest schemes.

Although he does not possess traditional “superpowers”, Shang Chi is highly revered as the "Master of Kung-Fu" due to a lifetime of combat training and is probably the foremost expert in all known forms of terrestrial martial arts, enabling him to equal and best many superhumans.  Shang Chi’s mastery of chi allows him to disperse any physical trauma directed at him across his entire body and strike with enough force to break through reinforced steel. His sharply honed physical strength, speed and agility gives him the ability to dodge and deflect bullets from automatic weapons after they've been fired.  Due to his training and half immortal nature, Shang Chi is also less susceptible to any forms of mental attacks than normal humans.

As a half immortal being in this alternate universe, Shang Chi has a resistance to the effects of aging and disease as well as most conventional forms of toxins and poisons.
