Wakandan Regents

The Wakandan Regents in this Alternate Marvel Universe are the current co-rulers of the nation of Wakanda who oversee the governing of the kingdom with the aid of a Tribal Advisory Council made up of Wakandan nobles descendant from the former tribal chieftains of the various tribes that make up the modern day Wakanda, until the rightful heir to the Wakandan throne, Prince T’Challa, reaches the age of ascension and is able to take the throne to rule. Due to both Queen Regent Ramonda (as widow of the former king) and Lord Regent S’Yan (as brother of the former king) having equal and legitimate claim to the throne of Wakanda, they both share an equal role as regent in order to minimize any opportunities for possible civil discord to arise from only one regent governing the nation.


                   
                               QUEEN REGENT RAMONDA

In this Alternate Marvel Universe Ramonda is the widow of the late King T’Chaka and biological mother to both T’Challa and his younger sister, S’Huri as well as the acting co-regent of Wakanda along side Lord S’Yan, the younger brother of T’Chaka and T’Challa’s predecessor as the Black Panther.

Ramonda in this alternate universe is a Wakandan noble due to being of the bloodline of one of the various Wakandan tribal chieftains that ruled territories in Wakanda prior to the various tribes being united as one nation under one king.  As such Ramonda grew up as a childhood companion to both T’Chaka and S’yan, with Ramonda and T’Chaka becoming sweethearts in their adolescence with plans to become engaged once they became of age and wedding when T’Chaka became king.  

Their courtship and engagement came to an end for a short period of time however just prior to T’Chaka ascending to the Wakandan throne due to an attempt to unite Wakanda and Niganda, its neighboring and long standing rival nation.   T’Chaka was forced into a betrothal with Nigandan princess Zanda in order to end decades of conflict between the two nations.  Ramonda herself played a key role in ending the forced betrothal when she uncovered plans by Zanda to kill T’Chaka once they were wed in order to gain rulership over both Niganda and Wakanda.  

Ramonda as Queen Regent has proven to be a stern but fair ruler serving with dignity, poise and a warrior’s spirit when needed in defense of Wakanda and it’s people.




                                     LORD REGENT S’YAN

S’yan in this Alternate Marvel Universe is the younger brother of the late King T’Chaka and the former possessor of mantle of the Black Panther prior to T’Challa, who currently serves as co-regent alongside Queen Regent Ramonda in ruling Wakanda until T’Challa has proven worthy to ascend to the Wakandan Throne.

When his older brother T’Chaka ascended to the Wakandan throne, S’Yan inherited the mantle of the Black Panther from his brother and officially served as the totem warrior and guardian of Wakanda throughout his brother's reign as king.  S’Yan’s natural physical abilities and fighting skills enhanced by ingesting the Heart of Wakanda herb help him to establish himself as one of the greatest Black Panthers to hold the mantle.  S’Yan personally trained T’Challa in hand to hand and martial arts as well as tactical training in preparation for his eventual taking up of the Black Panther mantle and duties prior to his being able to ascend to the Wakandan throne.  S’Yan is currently doing the same for his niece Shuri, as she will next inherit the mantle of the Black Panther once T’Challa has become king.

S’Yan as Lord Regent has proven to be a fair and just ruler seeking to keep Wakanda on a strong and growing nation for his to guide once he becomes king.
